Before you open Google Photos on Google Play

The next button opens Google Photos on Google Play. The developer shown on the listing is Google LLC, and the app has more than 10 billion downloads. Many Android phones already have it installed; if yours does, the page will show Open or Update instead of Install.

• Free: the app, backup within your free storage, the trash and search
• Storage: up to 15 GB free per Google Account, shared with Gmail and Drive
• Paid (optional): extra Google storage if you need more space
• Ads: the listing does not show a "Contains ads" label

The app will ask for permission to access your photos and videos, which it needs to back them up.

First-minute tip: before anything else, tap Collections, then Trash, and check for the photo you lost. Then turn on backup.
